Abstract:

Using the archive database of the Institute of Natural and Technical Systems (INTS) for the centennial period the main features of spatio-temporal variability of the pH field on different horizons in a deep-sea part of the Black Sea are analyzed. Climatic рН distribution for different seasons emphasizes an essential role of the large-scale Black Sea circulation in formation of horizontal inhomogeneity of the рН field in the upper layer. In general it is confirmed that рН value decreases with a depth. At the same time, on the subsurface horizons the pH maximum occurs during some seasons. It is caused by peculiarity of a seasonal cycle of the biogeochemical processes in the upper layer of the Black Sea.

Keywords: database, quality control, average climatic field of pH, seasonal variability, photosynthesis, geostrophic circulation.
