Voskresenskaya Elena Nikolaevna (On the occasion of her birthday)

   On May 6, Elena Nikolaevna Voskresenskaya, a member of the editorial board of the journal “Environmental Control Systems”, celebrated her anniversary.
In 1974, she graduated from the Sevastopol Instrument-Making Institute with a degree in automation and telemechanics, and in 1988 – from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology with a degree in automation of experimental research. In 1993, she became a candidate, and in 2005, a doctor of geographical Sciences in the specialty “oceanology”. In 2013, she was awarded the academic title of professor.

   Currently, E. N. Voskresenskaya is the Deputy Director for Scientific Work of the Institute of Natural and Technical Systems (IPTS) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor of the Department of Geoecology and Environmental Management of the Moscow State University Branch in Sevastopol and the basic department of IPTS “Monitoring and Climate Theory” of Sevastopol State University.

   The research activity of E. N. Voskresenskaya is connected with the study of large-scale interaction of the atmosphere and the ocean and climate changes. She is a well-known specialist in the field of climatology at home and abroad. She comprehensively studied the role of global climate processes in the formation of interannual-inter-decade anomalies of the natural environment and climate in the Atlantic-European region, including the Black Sea and the Crimea. Under her leadership, based on artificial intelligence methods, a globally competitive model for predicting interannual climatic anomalies with a lead time of up to 9 months has been developed. The results of E. N. Voskresenskaya’s scientific research on this topic are presented in more than 350 publications in domestic and foreign publications, including 6 monographs.

   For several decades, E. N. Voskresenskaya has been the head and responsible executor of numerous national and international scientific topics and projects. Currently, he successfully manages the implementation of the state task of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation “Fundamental and applied research of patterns and mechanisms of formation of regional changes in the natural environment and climate under the influence of global processes in the ocean-atmosphere system and anthropogenic impact”, as well as a number of applied projects aimed at the sustainable development of Sevastopol and Crimea. From 2004 to 2015. She was a member of the working group of the Commission on Climatology of the International Geographical Union. Since 2016, he has been heading the organizing committee of the annual International Scientific and Technical Conference “Environmental Control Systems”.

   E. N. Voskresenskaya devotes a lot of time to educational activities. Since 2006, he has been actively supervising the training of highly qualified scientific personnel. Under her leadership, 6 PhD theses were successfully defended. Currently, E. N. Voskresenskaya directs the work of five candidates for the degree of Candidate of Sciences. She is a member of the Joint Dissertation Council at the Institute of Natural and Technical Systems and Sevastopol State University. He is a member of the editorial boards of the scientific journals “Environmental Control Systems” and “Aquatic Bioresources and Habitat”.

   E. N. Voskresenskaya actively participates in the public life of the city. From 2014 to 2020, she was the first chairman of the Sevastopol City branch of the Russian Geographical Society (SGO RGO). It was her active organizational activity in this position that ensured the formation and successful development of the SGO RGO. She is a member of the Expert Council at the Main Department of Natural Resources and Ecology of the city of Sevastopol.

   The results of Elena Nikolaevna’s scientific and scientific-organizational activities have been awarded numerous awards, diplomas and commendations. Among them: The Certificate of Honor of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the Prize of the Council of Ministers of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the Diploma of the laureate of the citywide forum “Public Recognition” of Sevastopol, the Diploma of the Sevastopol City Council and the Sevastopol State Administration, the Medal ” 150 years since the birth of V. I. Vernadsky”, several Honorary awards and commendations of the Russian Geographical Society, the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation, the Aerospace Forces of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and other departments. In 2010, it was listed on The Board of honor of the Leninsky district of Sevastopol.

   The editorial board of the journal “Environmental Control Systems” congratulates the hero of the day and wishes her many years of fruitful scientific and scientific-organizational activities.
