Abstract:

The purpose of the studies was to test the assumption that recreational disturbance of forest communities can affect the allelopathic regime of tree edificators. The studies were carried out on the slopes of the southeastern exposure, in single-species forest communities of prevailing formations, with arboreal species: Quercus pubescens Willd., Quercus petraea (Matt.) Liebl., Castanea sativa Mill., Buxus colchica Pojark, Fagus orientalis Lipsky, Carpinus betulus L., Taxus baccata L. For each species, the spatial gradient of the phytogenic field was assessed during the dry period in the control and at stages I–III of recreational digression on 9 sample plots along the linear transect, in 3-fold replication, from the trunk of a middle-aged tree in the direction of the forest “window” or forest edge, without crossing with trails.

The method of biotesting of water extracts from forest litter, soil and roots was used to determine the spatial gradient of allelopathic activity of the phytogenic field environment. The results obtained indicate the influence of recreational disturbance of the forest environment on the allelopathic regime of the analyzed tree species. The share of participation of the allelopathic factor in the formation of the phytogenic field at certain stages of recreational digression was established. It was determined that the value of the allelopathic intensity of the phytogenic field, depending on the stage of recreational digression, the activity of the field zones and the edificator species, can characterize the degree of resistance to the introduction of new species, recreational resistance and stability of the community.
