Abstract:
The paper presents the results of a study on the toxicity of sugar production waste. The study was conducted according to MP 2.1.7.2297-07, focused on its total phytotoxicity on oat seeds and methods for determining the toxicity of aqueous solutions using seedlings of watercress seeds (Lepidium sativum) according to HDPE F T 14.1:2:4.19-2013. The conducted study shows that the aqueous extract prepared from the sugar production waste does not have a toxic effect on oat and watercress seedlings.The most sensitive indicator for watercress is the average length of seedlings, which is confirmed by the reliability of the correlation coefficient. It is revealed that an aqueous extract of the sugar production waste has a stimulating effect on watercress sprouts and, in a 32-fold dilution, on the length of the roots of oat seeds. This dependence is explained by the content of microelements such as nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus in the studied sample. The results obtained allow us to consider the sugar production waste as a fertilizer capable of improving the chemical and agrochemical properties of the soil, which helps to increase crop yields
