Choosing a methodology for assessing environmental risk caused by polluted atmosphere of primorsky territory

Abstract:     

In the paper, the concept of risk to humans and vegetation is determined, attention is focused on the choice of a methodology for assessing the risk of a contaminated area, research objectives are as well as materials and research methods are formulated. The area of the Primorsky territory was chosen as the object of the study, which includes a variable relief with a strong elevation difference, the presence of a developed infrastructure (port, ship repair, railway and automobile), sources of emissions from private households. A geoinformation analysis was carried out, the results of which identified recreational green areas for recreation, areas of possible anthropogenic negative impact – an alleged source of risks for the population and plants. The interrelation of meteorological conditions with sources of negative impact, resulted in changes in risk indicators from the direction and speed of wind currents, is highlighted. A gradation of risks is given depending on the concentrations used in the calculations. The analysis of drawings showing control points on the territory of the studied object is made, for which the values of risks for the concentration of pollutants are determined. Conclusions are drawn about the quality of the chosen methodology and ways of further research are outlined.
