Abstract:

The relevance of this study stems from the objective need to improve water use efficiency in the Sevastopol Region. The Chernaya River flow, accumulated in the Chernorechenskoye Reservoir, is the main source of water supply for the city of Sevastopol, which determines the priority of limiting the impact on this river tributaries. This paper summarizes the results of studies on substantiating standards of permissible impact standards (PIS) for the Chernaya River tributaries in the context of lack of monitoring information, identifying informational and methodological uncertainties, and ways to overcome them. PISs for the entry of microorganisms, water input and water withdrawal are developed. Excess of the established PIS for the reference year is revealed for certain types of impacts: SPI chem (nitrites, Baidarka River), PIS microbe (total coliform bacteria and coliphages, Baidarka River, surface stormwater). It is established that water withdrawal from the rivers under consideration is only possible during periods of floods and high waters; anthropogenic water input does not have a significant impact on the river flow. For organized wastewater discharge into the Baidarka River, the PISprivn is taken equal to the total design capacity of the treatment facilities. The main factors influencing the quality of the PIS development include: the lack of systematic water flow monitoring for rivers with unregulated flow; natural hydrochemical background indicators; and the impact of diffuse sources of pollution on the water quality of the Chernaya River tributaries.

Keywords: catchment area, anthropogenic load, river flow, organized discharge, diffuse sources of pollution, pollution of water bodies, permissible impact standards (PIS)
