At the end of 2023, the 25th anniversary of the publication of the first issue of the journal “Environmental Control Systems” will be celebrated. More precisely, back in 1998, the journal was a collection of articles prepared on the basis of reports presented at a scientific and technical seminar with the same name. Since 1998, the conference “Environmental Control Systems” (which at the beginning was called a seminar) has been held annually and a collection of articles has been published based on the results of its work. In some years, such a collection consisted of 2 volumes. This continued until 2015, when the journal “Environmental Control Systems” was registered by the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Communications (Roskomnadzor) and received a Certificate of state registration PI No.FS77-63023 dated September 10, 2015. Since then, the journal has been published quarterly, i.e., 4 issues are published on a regular basis every year. This issue of the magazine is the 54th, if you count all the issues since 1998.
The journal is included in the List of peer–reviewed scientific publications in which the main scientific results of dissertations for the degree of candidate and Doctor of Sciences in the specialty 2.2.8 – Methods and devices for monitoring and diagnostics of materials, products, substances and the natural environment (technical sciences) should be published. The editorial board of the journal includes leading experts in this field from several regions of the Russian Federation, the People’s Republic of China and India.
The founder of the journal and the most active member of its editorial board throughout the existence of this scientific and technical publication and until his death (i.e. until July 22, 2023) was Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Vitaly Alexandrovich Gaisky.
But Vitaly Alexandrovich was not just a member of the editorial board. He was the permanent deputy editor-in-chief of the magazine from the end of 1998 to July 2023. It is not surprising that Vitaly Alexandrovich has always considered the activity of creating and supporting the publication of the magazine one of his most significant achievements.
